Modelling land use and land cover changes in the Lower Neretva Region

It has been shown that simulation models are reliable tools for predicting land changes, which contributes to better understanding and management of human impact on the environment. Land use cover changes in Lower Neretva Region between 1990 2035 have analysed modelled this study. The final model future was created based cellular automata artificial neural networks, implemented MOLUSCE plugin QGIS. In addition, a test 2020 created, showed high accuracy. Input variables included digital elevation (DEM), slope, distance from water bodies, built-up areas, population density by settlement 2011 2021. According results, forests grasslands will expand occupy almost 45% area. A slight increase agricultural areas is expected, while swamps, sparse vegetation decrease.
